Connecting Registers In POS 09

Anyone had any luck connecting a second POS 09 to the main PC Database? I am getting a message that tells me to use an Admin. Acct., but it cant be THE Admin Acct.? All firewalls are off and I have full Admin. rights on all my PC's. So far this POS 2009 THING HAS BEEN A HUGE DISSAPOINTMENT!

From what I've been reading I'm glad I decided to stick it out with RMS. Craig

David,

You do have to have admin rights to change the database connection.

Which operating systems are you using? The Getting Started Guide explains that if your database is on a Vista or Server 2008 machine you have to turn off the LocalAccountTokenFilterPolicy in the registry. You can find details in this KB article:

You have to have the same account setup on both the Terminal and the Server with the same password and it has to be setup as an Administrator.

I just installed a 2 lane store with a Server and 4 backoffice computers and ran into the same problem. If you look in the Help file I do believe it states that you need to have the same login credentials, be in the same workgroup or on a domain.

Forgot to say make sure you logout then back in after making changes to the accounts.

Thanks for the advice on this! After spending several hours on the phone with MS. The easiest way to do this is to create NEW Accts. on all the PC's to be connected, with ADMIN. credentials, with THE SAME USER NAME & SAME PASSWORD. After doing that I had no problems with the networking & could use any user acct. to login after the initial setup. This seems completly unneccarry, but that's what worked. The help file coud explain this process in about two paragraphs! But it does not, and the support rep. aggreed, that this needs to be changed. As for the duplicate items, your saying that this is a bug? Do you think that means manual entry for my inventory instead of an EXCEL import? I shure hope not, it's over 1.2 million in my DB. (BOOKS) Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I'd try Afshin's import utility I am sure it will have way more functionality and from my experience they do really good work.

If you can't wait for it to be released, you could try editing the items in the excel file first. If you have another field with more information you could try joining the fields to make a unique description field. Using a formula like =if(C1="Paperback",B2 & " PB",if(C1="Hardcover", B2 & " HC","")) Example ItemLookup Description BookType NewDesc ABC123 Cat in the Hat Paperback Cat in the Hat PB ABC124 Cat in the Hat HardCover Cat in the Hat HC

I find editing in Excel very useful and sometimes powerful.
