Reason Code to adjust price

Dec 21, 2005 5 Replies

Hi How do I get a reason code to adjust the price UP which is not a customer discount. The computer price was higher than the marked price and this was accepted by the customer. The only choice for a price change in any way that I could see is named "Customer Discount". Can I go to the table (which one) and insert a new reason code category without peril? If not please advise.

Thanks and merry xmas to everyone

Dan,

Reason codes don't change anything, it just tells you why something was done.

Hi Jeff, thanks for this. I do understand your reply, however, when I add a new reason code, the only choices it gives me about the price is "Customer Discount" (which pertains to changing the price down). I am more after a more generic option in the drop down list along the lines of "Incorrect Price" to which I can assign a reason code of my own. "Discount" is confusing my staff when they are increasing the price. [computer says $10 and article says $12]! Is it feasible and /or possible fo rm to go add another description to the drop down list that is by default presented. I hope this is clear. Regards Dan

Dan,

Gotcha.

You can't add your own Reason Code types that I can find. I would suggest sending a suggestion to MS for future enhancement.

You can change the wordage, although it might break something else. I'll tell you how it can be changed, but _really_ don't recommend changing it. Everytime a new RMS update or version comes out, it might break/change other things.

The wordage is stored in the MGRLanguage.dat file in the main RMS folder. S3578 is the wordage for "Customer discount", for example. Maybe you could change it to something more generic for your purposes. You can open and change it with Notepad. Backup the file first, just in case!!

You should be able to create a new reason code associated with this. I made reason codes for returns and no sales. I have three different choices that must be chosen from to proceed.

Dan,

Forgot to mention that wordage is also in the POSLanguage.dat file too. Line S2336. This one displays the wordage in the POS screen and the other in the Manager screens.
