Requirements for a scond store

Hi,

We're using RMS 2.0 at our store. We are licensed for 9 POSs but are only using 4 POSs which access our server, SBS 2005 with SQL 2005. Now we are expanding to a second physical location. We are looking at a T1 line between the locating, approximately 5 miles, for data and phone communications. We are hoping the 5 POSs at our new location can access our HQ at our existing location.

Is a T1 fast enough? Can we use our 5 licenses at a second location?

Any recommendations or comments appreciated.

When you say HQ I'm not sure if you're talking about your company's physical headquarters or the HQ software that is part of RMS. If you don't already have a HQ license you'll definitely want to purchase one and then you'll set up an independent store database and the 2 stores will be linked through the HQ software. You should be able to access the HQ software across the T1 but it will be pretty slow and will probably lose connection to the database frequently. You are much better off using Remote Desktop to log into your SBS 2005 system and then run HQ Manager there. The POSs don't access HQ directly. They communicate with the local store db which in turn communicates with the HQ db via the HQ client.

Thanks for the advise. We do have licensed HQ. The T1 will be setup as an extension of the network.
