RMS 2.0 Activation

What happens if you don't "activate" your 2.0 POS system?

It states that only machines running POS need to be activated.

Does it run in evaluation mode for 30 days like 1.x??

Does this allow me to use one of the keys I was sent on a test machine and just never activate it, but fully test all 2.0 functions?

Does this allow me to have POS installed on a system "sleeping" on a backup system in case of failure on a production terminal and that one station run in evaluation mode until I get a replacement key from MS via phone?

How do you know this Gill? Did you try it yourself or are you just assuming? I'm still waiting to hear back from my reseller on this one Craig

Jo9hn, Harjit is correct. After installing 2.0, you can open Administrator and Manager, however when you try to open POS, you receive the message to activate the software.

Yes, it asks you to input the keys, but do you have to actually go online right away to activate? They say you can activate over the phone also so there must be some kind of time limit you have to call and activate. A lot of programs are 15 days. This is what we need to know before we try to test the POS on our test machine. If they give you a couple of days then at least I have some time to test out our add-ins in the POS module. Craig

Activation is required immediately; there is no grace period.
