RMS Road Map/PC 2009

We use RMS to support 30 stores. I understand RMS to be supported in the future but new development to stop. PC 2009 is a better product for touchscreen environment. Does anyone know the plan for multi store support. centralized management, centralized data reporting?

Thanks

It was my understanding that MS changed their stance on RMS and has decided to keep developing it, with POS2009 as a separate product for now.

Max If you want to go with POS2009 and utilize your multi stores my I suggest that in replaceing HQ you use NAV. It is more robust and more flexible than HQ. snipped-for-privacy@ca.rr.com

Don't hold your breath on Multi-Store support for POS2009 direct from Microsoft.

The only other option would be to use OpSuite by Positive Technology. Which has not yet be released to the general public. They are saying it should be released to the public as a hosted service by the end of the year.

Does NAV function as an HQ for MS POS2009 out of the box? Is this a simple integration or a custom configured multi-store solution route?

...also, can someone please send me a copy of the MS POS 2009 SDK? Thanks.

We are using POS 2009 & NAV for several multi-store operations. We are currently in the process of configuring the latest version of NAV & POS 2009 for a 5 store 10 lanes application. If you want more info email me at snipped-for-privacy@ca.rr.com and I will put you in-touch with our tech staff.

Hi Max

We have RMs installed on 42 stores running with RMS HQ for about 3 years now, and a planned GP integration. RMs - GP integration does not work, even after 2 years, our MS partner is still struggling on this project, largely because after much testing we haev found the MS standard integration is actually broken (MS Partners run this by MS and ask them why they didnt bother to inform you).

NAV is a much better product than NAV but also much more expensive and I'd guess the integration will also be more complex and expensive.

It would appear that no one at MS nor the MS partners have any clue as to what the future of RMS or POS 2009 is going to be. On that basis, I would actually look at the Sage / Accpac solution which offers you proper multi store ERP integration at less than half the cost of RMS. There is no questions in the air about the future of their product. I am considering dumping RMS and switching to the Sage solution for our retail business, largely due to the lack of clarity on the future of RMS and the extremely poor ERP integration.

Shaun,

Have you looked at the Dynamics RMS to GP Integration Solution from Professional Advantage, I heard they have it installed an running at a number of customers. Been around for a while.

Look at this:

might be an option for your integration.
