RMS vs RetailPro

I have been using RMS for over 2.5 years and my business is expanding to 3 locations. I looked at Retail Pro

and they are quite flexible with the new version on embeded Oracle 9i. They seem to have attacked the shortcomings of RMS. For a fashion clothing retailer, would anyone recommend against Retail Pro?

Hi Sammm...I would look very closely at the costs per station and store, ongoing maintanence and mandatory support from a local exclusive dealer. We have run RPRO for several years in our stores and would not upgrade due to a host of hidden costs, lots of bugs and general lack of stability of the product. You should also be aware that the Oracle thing is somewhat a farce as I understand it. Yes it is a database, but its still running off the flat file system which is very unstable. The flat files simply populate the Oracle DBwith their data, so what happens when (not if) the flat files get corrupted and pass the bad data over to oracle?

It's true RPRO is a bit superior > I have been using RMS for over 2.5 years and my business is expanding to 3

I also used Retail Pro at one point and switched out because the maintance and support cost were outrageous. I could buy a new system every year for what I paid in maintenance cost.

I will have to say though it did work better for an apparel cloth> Hi Sammm...I would look very closely at the costs per station and
