In order to connect to my db, I need have PCs in a workgroup. I have them. But when I try to make the drive from one PC to the other in order to connect to the db, I am unable to. Am I doing something wrong? I have a static IP.

You don't map a drive to connect a SQL server database. It runs as a network service, and only the server itself ever accesses the underlying files. You probably have a firewall issue or your server is not set up to allow incoming connections, but the possibilities are pretty much endless.
