Network Installation Issue

Hi everyone! I have two computers with Windows XP Home edition and Wireless Network. I want to install RMS 2.0 and use one of them to store the database and act as a register and the second one only as a register. How do I set this up? I installed RMS on both of them and SQL Express on database server. But I cannot connect to the database from the second computer. Thank you in advance for all replies.

Hi, You probably need to share the drive. You will want to make sure your wireless network is secure. Do you already have the RMS 2.0? If so you might want to contact the partner from whom you got it. Regardless, If you have specific questions post them here or email them to me at snipped-for-privacy@systemsource.us

Try to use a wired router for security reasons only.

Check your network conenctions and make sure the computers can talk over the network themselves make sure you can Ping each other. there is no need to share the drive for RMS its all done via SQL. If you are unable to conenct to the server try using the server IP and not name in windows. Also it maybe a XP Home versusu XP pro issue but check networking communications between the 2 pcs first "Bill Cunningham" wrote in message news: snipped-for-privacy@microsoft.com...

You do not need to share any drive. you can create ODBC and chack it is talking with the other computer. try ping each outher for comunication. if you need network help please contact me.
