My Experience with the 6550 is get rid of it and replace with a Keyboard and pinpad 1000se
I'm having issues with Store Operations POS having a:
Warning 932: A PIN Pad OPOS Communication Failure
Anyone have experience with setting up the Ingenico units (I followed the knowledge base article verbatim)?
In that instance, what option would I have for signature capture as I was under the impression that the 6550 was only the option for Signature Capture that worked with RMS.
There are other devices that you can use for sig capture look on the HCL. Newestech puts out an addon were the sig actually prints on the reciept using the HHP 1500.
Okay, our client is dead set on the Ingenico unit.
When I launch POS it gives the Warning 943 that the Pin Pad is not accessible. I've checked over the configuraion following Microsoft's knowledge base article and everything seems to configured properly. Just RMS is not connecting with the device for some reason.
When the device boots up does it show USB or serial? Did you download the driver through the link that microsoft provides? What is showing on the screen of the ingenico when you open the POS side of RMS? Is there a port conflict between another serial device like a printer, pole display or something else using the same serial port the device is trying to use? Have you configured the device for autodetect?
Hi Maurice,
If it requires an add-in to have the sig print on the receipt, where is the signature stored if you don't have an add-in? Please tell me it goes on the journal!
Thank you sir,
BK

Chad,
I know I'm a little late on the uptake here, but we have had good experiences with the 6550. We even developed an add-on where the sig will print on the receipt with it.
As for your issue, I'm not entirely sure > I'm having issues with Store Operations POS having a:
Hey Matt,
I am just getting going with my i6550's and have run into some issues. I followed the MS procedure for install and all I get is a blank screen on the 6550 once it boots up. Do you happen to have any procedures you could share with me for setup and configuration? I have asked Ingenico for firmware and procedures but not received anything as of yet.
Much thanks!
BK
P.S. What are the benefits of having the sig on the receipt? Does it just make the customers happier? I've noticed that most of the big chains don't do that and I just assumed that maybe it creates additional liability? I'd appreciate your opinion on the subject!
The customer receipt does not need an imprinted signature- it's their copy. By omitting the signature on the customer copy, they are keeping the customer signature private, just like truncating card numbers.
However the merchant is required to have a signed receipt on file, which they must produce in the event the customer claims it was a fraudulent charge. If the merchant cannot produce the signed receipt, they are stuck with a chargeback fee. CS
