Signature Capture ingenico etouch 1000

I am a business owner who wanted to purchase RMS about 4-5 years ago. But since it didn't support the widly used etouch 1000 i decided to wait thinking microsoft would catch up other POS software companies. So last week i purchased RMS from posglobal.com along with hardware including etouch 1000. I was the under the impression that RMS is now compatible with etouch1000. But i have found out that it is not compatible. I have worked with other small retailers installing pos and have studied several pos software companies. As far as i know all the pos software companies support the etouch 1000.

Etouch 1000 is used in almost all the major retial stores from wallgreens to homedopot and wallmart.

Please let me know if microsoft is now working on this issue and what is the estimated time when it will interface with etouch 1000 so i can decide if i need to change my pos software.

i Just stared using RMS and there are several places where it can be improved. Please contact me so we can work together in fixing the software.

called Smart Payments Client - RMS Plug-in. It costs $150 per register and I believe would work with the ingenico - call them and discuss it.

Your problems and misunderstandings derive from trying to save a few bucks by buying from a discount internet reseller, instead of dealing with a local full service RMS reseller. Below is a list of 12 resellers within 50 miles of you.

You can't return the software, but you may be able to return some of the hardware if you need to - that's really dependent on the policies of the site you purchased from. Why not just try contacting some of the partners in your area and see if you can find one who can meet your needs? MS has a form you can use to request a VAR change to another partner if the one who sold you the software is not meeting your expectations.

You can find that list of local resellers at:

In reality, RMS should support the etouch 1000. There really is no reason not to support it. I know the pin pad function will work with RMS 1.2 service pack 3. (so there is some support)

As i understand it, the RMS team needs to change the UI, which is a good reason why 1.2 does not support it. Hopefully 1.3 this issue will go away.

As a RMS dealer, small retailers are looking to add functionality so they can compete against the chains.

We just need to give them the tools to do so, otherwise there will not be any small retailers around, just chains who have their own IT departments which means there will be less business for us in the long run.

Manoj,

Our company, POSable Solutions exclusively provides IBM POS systems, and the software and peripheral devices that are supported by IBM. We have certified and offer Microsoft RMS and POS on IBM SurePOS systems with either XP Pro, or the new WEPOS.

The reason I tell you and the group this is because the retail installations that are pointed out here are IBM POS installations for major retailers. None have the same configuration, but they do try to use a similar customer UI with the Ingenico device because the consumer is familiar with this device and the device has the function of using a ubiquitous interface to guide the user through the transaction.

The answer to the Ingenico enTouch 1000, along with many other hardware products that work with RMS is that they are supported, but not by Microsoft. If you want to use the Ingenico touch pad, call Ingenico or an authorized Ingenico partner. They will be happy to help. However, the full functionality of the enTouch will not be supported by RMS. This is a function of the software, not hardware. RMS will work with the pin pad, and the magstripe. Ingenico will provide the OPOS drivers, but OPOS is limited, and if you want the full function of the pad, you will need a RMS plugin that takes over at the tender and passes the information back to RMS, or have one developed for you.

Microsoft is a software company. RMS is a great product, but it is not the hardware vendor. You should have support from the vendors that manufacture the components of your POS. If you role your own, then expect that your support will be limited because you are your own vendor. So the definitive answer is that Ingenico supports RMS and has many installations of the enTouch on RMS.
