HQ Admin / SO Admin can't connect database from clients

We just installed upgraded Our Store to RMS 2.0 from 1.3 AND installed RMS

2.0 and HQ 2.0, at a new Warehouse

We cannot connect HQ Admin or Store Admin to the database, from any client machine, only the server(s) can connect to the database in HQ Admin or SO Admin.

We get a message box " To connect to this server you must use SQL Server Management Studio or SQl Server Management Objects (SMO)"

We have SSME ctp / SQL Express installed on Store 01 Server and SQL Workgroup SSME 1.0 on HQ/WHSE Server

(PS We used to be able to connect to the SO Databse from any Client or server with RMS 1.3)

Our Partner Installer said this was normal?? is it?

I downloaded SQLServer2005_BC.msi from Microsoft and deselected all the tools except SMO objects. This solved the problem connection problem to 2005 versions of SQL from RMS.
