Sharing Office Manager for 2 sites

Hello,

I am currently running SOM 1.3.1011, and will be putting in a second location that does not need the POS, but does need access to SOM. What is the best way to do this? I am open to any suggestions.

Thanks, Greg Shepherd First Rate Golf

Hi Greg,

It's very easy to add another copy of RMS manager. You need to have that computer setup on the same network as the first computer running RMS. Then install RMS and point it to that database to access Manager.

If you need help please contact me.

The easiest way is to remote desktop to the computer (hopefully a server) that has the SOM. Else open a port on the router (1433) to the hosting computer (Make sure you password your sql server!!!!!!!!!) them load the SOM on the other computer and put the IP address of the first computer as the server name. And get a fixed IP for the host if you don't have one.

Thanks, Jerry.

I will try that once we get the location up and running.

Hi Jerry,

I tried your suggestion, and we got close but errored out with the following message.....To connect to this server you must use SQL Server Management Studio or SQL Server Management Objects (SMO).

In SO Admin, we tested the database connection in the config tab, and it worked, but when we tried to connect, we received the error above.

FYI, we connected remotely to the database using ODBC, and also SQL Management Studio Express.

Any ideas?

Thanks, Greg
