Separate inventory for floor and backstock

I want to be able to keep track of separate inventory counts for items based on one of two locations; the retail floor and backstock.

The reason is I want to have a maximum stock and reorder point for each item on the floor and be able to restock them from the backstock. Each item in backstock has its own reorder point which comes from an offsite warehouse.

Is there an easy way to do this within RMS? I am using RMS Store Operations v1.2, one back office server with one database and six registers.

One idea I come across so far is to have separate databases for the floor and backstock and do transfers from one to the other.

Another suggestion I have had is to use the RMS HQ software and manage the floor as one store and the backstock as another store.

I would love some input on this topic!

I have looked into the RR Multilocation and while this looks like it could work, it does not have mins, maxes or reorder points.

I am looking for something that will let me say "10 of X" fit on the floor and set a reorder point of 3, so when I've sold 7, it will tell me that I need to bring 7 or more from a second location.

I will keep looking. If someone has other suggestions, please do tell!

Thanks!

In case anyone comes back to this, here is what I am looking for in this kind of add-on:

Mutli-location spec for Archie McPhee

Basics:

1) Multiple locations (sales floor, backroom, container, etc). 2) Ability to add more locations as we see fit. 3) Each location has each item in RMS database. a. Sales floor location has its own independent minimum. b. Sales floor location has its own independent maximum. c. Sales floor location has its own independent current count. 4) Restock report a. Shows all items on sales floor that are at/below their minimum. b. Shows how many of each item is needed to bring that item to its maximum. c. Allows for manual adds/deletes. d. Allows for automatic transfer of all items on report from any location of choice to sales floor. 5) Ability to manually transfer from any location to any other. 6) Ability to manually adjust numbers at any location. 7) Receiving a. Always receive into set location (adjustable). 8) Reporting a. Transfer journals i. By location ii. By date iii. By item number b. Receiving journals i. By date ii. By item number c. Inventory report i. Shows current count of all items in all locations ii. By item number iii. By location
