USB or Parallel Dongle?

Is it just a matter of personal preferance (and available ports!), or is one easier to deal with for whatever reason...?

I'd rather deal with the parallel dongles. I have had problems with USB ports failing completely as well as intermittently. The USB dongles sometimes can get knocked around losing their connection. With the parallel dongles you can securely screw them in place. Over all they just seem to be more stable.

I've always used USB, and only once did I have a problem (the KB had an article on how to fix it).

I kinda like using USB because I can get USB controller cards with a USB port on the inside, that way your dongle is inside the PC and less likely to be disconnected or disappear.

Is there a converter that will allow me to use parallel dongles on a machine without parallel ports? I have a laptop that only has USB ports but I'd like to use it as one of our POS stations.

Thanks for any reply!

fstrthnu3,

Try contacting your reseller as I think you can change the dongle type for a modest charge, $5-10.
