Epson TM-T88IV Parallel to USB bridge

-------------------------------------

I am trying to use a Parallel to USB bridge with the TM-T88IV. I see most people purchasing PCI cards when they receive a new PC that does not have a parallel port. Unfortunately most of the PC cases we have are mini and require a half-height card, which are almost as expensive as buying the converter you install in the printer. I can purchase the bridge for $6.00. Has anyone else tried this with any success?

I find new hardware when plugging it in: EPSONTM-P2.01. I have downloaded the driver but I am having zero success getting it to work. It says the printer is unavailable after finishing the install.

Any help or ideas are appreciated,

Nat

There was recently a thread about this, if you search back a few weeks.

In a nutshell, I was able to get a parallel to USB cable to run my old parallel TMs, but others have had no luck. Install the driver that came with your adapter. Download and install the Epson Advanced printer driver from EpsonExpert (name should be like 301f.exe) Remove any other driver you installed for that printer Install the printer driver, parallel i/f and install usb driver You configure receipt cut settings from the advanced tab in Windows | printer properties. I had to play around quite a bit before I got them to work, but once I got it they worked flawlessly. I took off the bi-directional print when I got the printer to work. In retrospect I am not sure it was necessary, but worth mentioning, because it may have been what finally got it to work.

from my notes:

use Epson WINDOWS APD driver for TM-88-III receipt 3 - parallel i/f and install usb driver after installing - in Win printer settings change port to USB virtual and uncheck bi-directional

printer settings/operation add open drawer command for Start of Document add cut for end of page

Good Luck,

Marc
