Is anybody successfully using a USB PIN pad without a USB to serial converter? If so which USB PIN pad is being used? If not is anybody successfully using a USB to serial PIN pad setup?

There ar a wariety of pinpads, some for EMV usage and others not. For instance these Hypercom EMV-pinpads work fine, both with USB and serial connections.

You can also easily turn PC's USB connection to a COM port with a cheap USB/COM adapter, and again plug your serial/COM connection Hypercom pinpad to that.
