Akim, RMS was not designed for this type of envornment. I have not tested this scenrio, but even were it possible, I see it as being a logicistical and performance nightmare. If you really want to go the route of thin clients, you may want to consider another POS product.
Akim:
You can install your RMS server installation on a virtual machine but if you are going to deploy additional registers they have to be *real* machines. The real machines must have their own POS/RMS licenses to function.
This environment works nicely but remember that a virtual server requires at least the same attention that a physical server does.
And, as Ryan noted, if you want to run a full thin client system RMS is not the way to go.

I have setup RMS HQ Client and HQ Server on a virtual machine. However i did experience problems with these products on a Virtual machine. the HQ Server application would crash and would need to be manually restarted roughly 5 times a day. I would not recommend using HQ Server or HQ client on a virtual machine.
