Web store software

I use RMS for my physical retail store and I plan to open a web store. What storefront, shopping cart software do you recommend that is hosted by an ISP, highly customizable, and can possibly integrate with RMS database?

I tried Miva and OpenUI hosted on Value Web but it's been a disaster. It just does not work!

We are in the same process right now... we decided to go with OSCommerce, 100% open source and an excellent online store software. Your ISP will need Apache, PHP 4.0 and MySQL which almost all ISP´s use anyway.

Then we just need a PHP script to translate the OSCommerce output to an Yahoo lookalike XML document, place it somewhere in your web server and RMS will pull it just like it was a Yahoo store...

Carlos Re: web store integration into RMS. Were you able to get the OScommerce software with the custom PHP script to work for automating the download of software to RMS?

I am in the same boat as you were, searching for both a shopping cart/website builder and an RMS integration solution at the same time.

Newestech keeps getting recomended but I am leary of the Storefront version as I have heard a LOT of bad things about them (and called them only to get a grossly inflated price for the software -newestech said the software that integrates with storefront should be $1500. Storefront advertises their shopping cart for under a$1000 but they verbally quoted me $5000 for the two! More then double).

I could use newestech's basic version which does the download automatically (I will still have to solve the pricing/inventory/product upload automation somehow) but I still will need a good compatible Shopping cart /website software solution.
