I'm trying to help my boss out with QB. He is running QB 2010 and wants to use the automatic import feature to pull data from AmEx. There are no options to pick a specific statement or period of time. He doesn't want everything, just a statement at a time.
How can we accomplish that?

Amex only allows for Web Connect downloads. Using this method you download a small file into QuickBooks containing the transactions.
For my Amex client I have the account setup to download statements. Edit the account in the Chart of accounts and on the online services tab, select download statements.
When you log into the account select Online Statement>>View billing statement. From this screen you can select QuickBooks as your choice of download. the next screen will give you the option of what time frame you want to download. You will be prompted to launch the file. This will automatically import the transactions into your file.
