Can't clear out payroll liabilities

After upgrading from Pro 2006 to Pro2008 - I have payroll liabilities that being displayed as overdue from the 4th qtr of 2007. I know this is not correct as I reconciled my liabilities accounts to the returns that were filed before I upgraded to 2008. I have tried to use the "adjust payroll liabilties" but it does not seem to work. I have even made journal entries to try to correct this. When I use the "create custom payroll liabilities payments" the amounts displayed there are the correct ones. Any ideas how to get rid of these erroneous overdue amounts? Thanks.

JE won't work thats for sure.

What happens when you use the payroll adjustment feature? I would also look at the balance sheet detail for 12/07 through 1/31/08 (when due) to see what is hitting those payroll accounts. I have one client who is showing payroll liabilities from 4Q07 because the last paycheck of the year mysteriously started FUTA and SUTA again. If there is true balance you should be able to see which accounts/payroll item/employee needs adjusting.

The balance sheet detail was helpful. I could determine where there had been some jes posted to the medicare employer account and they should have been posted to the ss employer account so I corrected those. However, this did not change the payroll liabilities as "overdue". My payroll liabilities as of 4/30/08 should be 0 as they are in my QB ledger. When I make an adjustment in the "adjust payroll liabilities" nothing happens. If I enter a .01 adjustment - this does not change the overdue .01 - it is still displayed as .01. I have no idea where some of the numbers are coming from - they are not in the balance sheet detail either.

****** Check the date of your adjustment. One of my clients has PR liabilities from 4Q07. If I date the adjustment in 2008 it does not do a thing. I had to date the adjustment 12/31/07 for it to work. Also, experiment with the option to "affect no accounts" vs "affect liability & expense accounts" since this is a prior year.
