Determine bills paid by credit after the fact

I'm hoping someone has the answer to this one! I made a stupid mistake and paid three bills using a credit that was issued to us by a vender. The credit covered 2 bills completely and part of a third. I followed the steps in "Help" to enter and use the credit. However, stupidly, I forgot to write down the invoice numbers for the bills that were paid. The one that was paid partially I can see. The other two I cannot.

Is there a way to have QuickBooks list the bills that the Vender Credit was used to pay? My QuickBooks version is QuickBooks Pro 2006.

Thanka lot for any asssistance!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Describe "The other two I cannot". You should be able to open up the Credit Card register and drill down to view each transation in detail.

This was a vender credit that was issued to us. The amount of the credit fully covered two of their invoices and a portion of a third invoice. Using the Bill Pay window, I applied the vender credit to the various bills and then cut a check for the remaining amount of the last bill. The credit issued by the vender is visible, it just the identity of the two fully paid bills that I cannot determine.

The fault is 100% mine! I should have at least written down the numbers of the bills. But surely, that information must be in QuickBooks somewhere!

Thank you very much for your reply, as well as for any further thoughts you may have.

Hi Allan,

I found a "back door" way to get the information. It was a bit laborious, and I'm sure there are better ways, but this worked. Hopefully, this may help someone else who has the same problem:

I went to the "Custom Transaction Detail Report" and obtained all the transactions for this vender for the time period in question. Then, I individually looked at each bill they'd sent that had been paid. Double clinking that bill, I then opened up the "History" that bill and found the ones where the Credit was listed.

I learned by lesson on this one. I'd still like to find out how to generate a report that shows this same information. It must be possible.

Thanks, Allan. I appreciate your response to my question.
