I am using Quickbooks pro5. Is it possible to export certain sections of the check register, say I just need to export Aprils check register. Also if so, can it then be imported?

You cannot export the register. You can export lists, and you can export reports. You must create a report containing the desired data, which you can then export.
Importing is a very different matter; you can import lists and transactions, but not reports. You would need to reorganize the data into transactions in the proprietary ".iif" QuickBooks format.
