I've never worked for myself at all

Kicking around the idea of starting a small business of some sort.... probably coffee shop, ice cream shop, etc

Advice on POS systems? I'm looking for a turn key system.... using touch screens maybe?

I sell POS systems, and I would suggest looking at your requirements carefully. Retail systems are not the same as restaurant POS systems, though there obviously is some overlap. Do you have a budget? Almost all systems can work with touchscreens, but some have much more flexibility than others, especially for restaurant ordering I'd be happy to talk to you a little more privately. Confine your search to those POS systems designed for your industry. Those for a coffee shop are way different than those for an auto parts shop or a massage parlor. In general, a POS system for one industry cannot easily be used by another and a generalized system (such as QB POS) cannot be used by any.

I see

I thought a POS system could be used in any market or industry

I didn't know they are "specific" to a market segment
