Intuit screwed the pooch on this one.

Check one of your pay stubs against what the IRS sent you in the mail for withholding rates or go read them online:

Intuit doesn't have anyone smart enough to know the difference between "At least" and "But less than".

This Quickbooks page

regard "Pay your employees and payroll taxes correctly, with less time, effort and risk of error."

I guess they exclude themselves with the 'risk of error' part.

Just Call Me, Fed Up with Intuit

Payroll programs including QuickBooks never use the wage bracket method, they use the percentage method. If you are looking at a table that has "At least" and "But less than" as columns, then you are looking at the wrong page.

Bet you feel like a moron for shooting your mouth off, when it is obvious that you do not know what you are talking about.

Now get out of here and eat some humble pie.

Actually that is wrong, they don't use either the percentage or wage bracket methods. They use the average annual method described in Pub 15-A for automated payroll systems.

Just like Allen on this topic.

Excellent suggestion for Allan. How does that crow pie taste?

There is no difference. QB uses the Percentage Method of withholding Table 7 (Annual Payroll Period) when making the tax calculation.

Actually they use the percentage method to calculate the tax on the estimated annual wages and divide that number by the estimated pay periods in the year.
