I'm trying to help someone work out an essential backup scheme for a QuickBooks (2004, may upgrade) installation. What are the filenames and locations of the essential data and configuration/settings files? Is this documented somewhere?
Installed on Windows XP.

The only file you need to back up is the .QBW file. I just copy the ..qbw file to two usb drives, two zip disks, and two hard drives on two computers on the network.
I don't bother with the Quickbooks backup. I just copy the entire Quickbooks file lock stock and barrel.
As far as the other files, Quickbooks will isntall them from CD.
You might want to backup any upgrades downloaded since the CD was purchased.
