Hi,
Hope someone can tell me what is going on here. I want to install the licensed version of QBs 2005 CD but not until the downloaded trial is cleaned from the HDD. Back on May 15th, Laura instructed me how to do this. Finally got around to starting the process a couple weeks ago, then put it on hold again until today because the uninstall didn't seem to work. Don't understand why it didn't work. Removed the company data files I created during the trial period, but fail to see how this action could interfere with the uninstall process.
Here's what I've done so far:
Uninstalled QBs 2005 Trial using Control Panel | Add/Remove Programs. It appeared to perform the program uninstall successfully and it's no longer listed in Add/Remove. But...according to the HDD, the program is *still* installed:
------------------------ Trial Program(?) Files Location C:\Program Files\Intuit\QuickBooks 2005
415MB Folders = QBooks, Support, Third Party, Trial, Files = cd.dat, setup.exe.
-------------------------------- Trial Installation Files(?) Location = (this is where I originally directed the "trial installation" to put the files that I *thought* were the program files, but are probably the "trial installation" files.(?)
C:\Program Files\Intuit\QBPro2005
138MB Folders = Components, Data, Quickbooks Letter Templates,Trial. Files = CI.ERR, convert_stub, ...eula.txt...install.txt...
I was advised that the Trial Installation Files folder can simply be deleted outright after making sure the program is actually uninstalled from C:\Program Files\Intuit\QuickBooks 2005.
I did not find an "uninstall" or "unwise" file in either QB folder. Nor did I find in Google anyone else who has had this problem. BTW, FWIW, I still have the downloaded trial on CD if reinstalling/uninstalling are an option (but I bet it's a one-use download).
Can someone help, please? What is my next step to *really* remove the trial version?
Thanks!
