Internet Security Level

Every time I open QB PRO 2006 under WinXP I am reminded that Internet Security Level is set too high and QB offers to make changes. I do not allow these to be made for I like to have my security setting as high as possible. It warns me that "some QB features will not work correctly". So far I have not noticed that any features were not working and I get On-line daily to download our bank information. Does anyone know which features are disabled? Thank you.

I betcha you're missing the latest specials on pre-printed checks, heckofa deal on credit card processing, and other essential services. Maybe minor stuff like payroll updates or program fixes.

If you could confirm that, there would be a great number of users who would be very happy to learn that!

Since you brought it up...

I'm sure that Intuit is keeping a copy of every document that is emailed by a QB user from within the QB application.

I don't know if they changed it with the 2006 version, but since they make it mandatory for a QB user to use Intuit's mail servers to email a document to someone, the only reason to do that is to keep a copy of the transmission for their own nefarious use and exploitation.

Does QB online banking also go through Intuit's servers? If it does, they must be keeping a log of all financial information of QB users to be exploited as they seem fit.

When it's complaining that your Internet Security settings are too low it probably wants to connect to the momma-server to pass user information and/or financial information from your data file to Intuit.

Turn off automatic updates and see if it still warns you. If it does, then there's some other communication it wants to do other than check for updates.

The warning comes on startup and it's because they do an explicit check of the setting. As for what they want, it is unfettered access to cookies, e.g. send from intuit.com and payroll.com can read it. You'll know when you trip over it.
