Inventory

I buy things on consignment and pay only after collecting cash. I had some damaged inventory that needed to be destroyed and I don't know how to assign an account for this. Is this an expense? Short term libility? I don't pay for this until I collect but if it's thrown out, I need to account for this and adjust the inventory to show the disposal. QB Manufacturing & Wholesale 2004
