Is it possible extract client basic data from a quickbooks account?

Hi, Is it possible, without using quickbooks, to extract the info on each invoice that's in an account and translate it to another format? I want to take a 2008 QB qbw file, and make a spreadsheet, or even a text file, with the invoice data in it so that it can be viewed without having to open quickbooks every time. Thanks for any ideas. Al

Not unless somebody has an add-on that does what you need/want.

The QB database is proprietary; the only way afaik would be to either use QB to export the transactions/reports you want (which would, of course, be static, not dynamic), as above find an existing add-on, or, if you're capable of writing code, develop an add-on of your own using the Intuit QB API toolset that the add-on developers use.

QODBC is an add-on driver to QuickBooks that allows you to extract data from QB into excel or MS access. I can't remember if it requires QB to be open at the time of the extraction but it is worth checking. You could also contact them at FlexQuarters.com and ask them for additional information.
