Cannot Bring Up QB2010 Learning Center

When QB2010 starts up at our site, the window times out and contains a message:

"Connection to server http-download.intuit.com failed (The server is not responding.)"

At first I thought we had a firewall problem. We checked the firewall log while the connection is taking place, and no hosts are being blocked. So it is not the firewall.

Then we went to the QB host and ran a sniffer to examine the network packets. QB2010 connects to a1848.x.akamai.net. This host resolves to an IP but also has an alias http-download.intuit.com. Sure enough, when QB2010 connects to that Akamai host, Akamai is responding with the above error message.

Is this some known problem with Akamai? Should I expect it to work again in the future? Is there any configuration step that affects the result on our end?

The above should have read "When QB2010 starts up at our site, the QB2010 Learning Center window times out...."

What other software is running? This looks like a hosts file/ad-blocking issue. Try putting intuit.com and akamai.net into your trusted sites in IE.

No, becase as I said in the original post, we ran a NETWORK SNIFFER on the QB 2010 host. A connection request to a1848.x.akamai.net goes to Akamai and Akamai responds back to that request with the "Connection to server http-download.intuit.com failed". Our host is not initiating ANY requestthat is blocked.
