Does anyone know how to trick QB 2009 into thinking Open Office Calc (spreadsheet) is Excel?

nope...the only option is to export the report as a csv file and then manually open the file in OO. Unfortunately you will lose all formating that existed in the report.
That is what I was trying to get around. Rats!
Can I rename scalc.exe to excel.exe?
Yes you can. Beats me why you would but go like a bunny.
I doubt it will work as there are some registry entries that also control the exports.
Why? M$ Office is really, really expensive!
So if I rename my wife Anna Kournikova her tennis game will improve?

No, QB uses various Excel DLL's to create/convert Excel spreadsheets. So it has to have Excel installed.
The best we can do is to send as many "Help", "Suggestions" as possible requesting Open Office support. Make sure you point out to them that with the extra money we save, we can afford to purchase more services from them (Intuit).
