Paying People

I am using QuickBooks Pro 2006.

I would like to keep track of hours that our subcontractor does using QuickBooks and be able to run a report at the end of the month and know exactly what I should pay him. I have the same problem for the owner, who is going to be paid via Paychex, but I will need to tell them his hours.

I tried to use the time card feature, but I can't seem to pull up my previous entries, and there seems to be no report to view the accumulated time...

Is there a way to do this in QuickBooks without subscribing to a paid service of theirs? What am I doing wrong/missing?

Thank you in advance for your help!

The owner is paid hourly?

The owner wants to be paid hourly for time he spends in the field

Our company is too small and we do not bring in enough money to pay salaries. Until now, I was the only one who got paid anything. There are actually 2 owners, the other is waiving payment until the company grows more. We want to pay Alex something because he seems to be getting discouraged and we want to encourage him to sell more, and have better client relations.

I don't use timesheets for tracking, myself. But when I pull up the timesheet window, and click the "How do I" dropdown, there are a number of entries for "track work performed by non-employees". I don't see a specific report generated for timesheets, but there is a way to select a range of dates and to pay your sub for time spent during that range.

You are missing your initial consultation with an accountant. Really! It is well worth it to have an accountant work with you to set up your bookkeeping and payroll.
