I cleaned up my company file but it didn't really reduce its size at all. I created a portable file and then opened it. The file size was reduced by
60%. Why? Is this a safe way to reduce the file size?- posted

Wow, you removed all the internal free space. You know PDQ QB will add back all than internal free space and your file will be as big as ever.
Stop worrying about how big the file is, only worry about how many list items you have.
Because records marked as deleted are not included in a portable file.
If you are concerned about file corruption, one option would be to start a new file as of 1/1/08 and keep the old file for history.
If you have a problem that can be cured by money, you don't have a problem. You have an expense.
Farm out your problem to a data service. Instant Peace of Mind.
