QB 2006--what happened to clearing checks with spacebar?

Mar 10, 2006 5 Replies

Hi,

I just installed QB Pro 2006. While reconciling bank accounts today I noticed that when I try to mark a check/deposit as cleared by using the spacebar, the cursor just jumps to the top of the list! I'm used to clearing entries in the reconciliation window by hitting the spacebar with my thumb and hitting the down arrow key with my pinkie, while ticking off entries on the statement. This new behavior forces me to use the mouse (ugh)...

Am I missing something?

TIA for any pointers.

Best regards, Stephen Porter Los Angeles, CA

This behavior is unique to your installation only . Consider yourself blessed. Now you can pick your nose with your pinkie.

Using QB Premier 2006, using spacebar works for me and down arrow works like it always has.

Sounds like something on your computer system has changed.

What release version of QB are you running? I know that the R3 patch caused the same behavior in the Columns list of the Modify Report dialog. Maybe it broke the bank reconciliation list as well.

If you have R3, try updating it to R4, available here:

was released to fix this specific problem.

***Set preferences for "ENTER" key to advance to next field. Then use mouse to mark first reconciliation item. The ENTER key will then mark as cleared as well as move to next item. Use arrow key to skip uncleared items

Alright!... That did it. Thanks for the great tip.
