Quickbooks 2005 Premiere problem

I have 2 computers, both are running Windows XP Pro with SP 2 and all updates. I installed QuickBooks 2005 on both machines. 1 machine works perfectly, the other gives me a msg (Windows XP and 2000 users must have power users or Administrator group rights in order to run Quickbooks. Please contact system admin about being granted those rights). How do I correct this please? Thank you

Make sure the user has administrator rights .. control panel / users is where to check that and type of account has to be administrator for QB to work correctly.

I have my user set as Admin.

Ah, just to ask a stupid question, where does the program and data files reside? How are you attempting to access? Don't forget to map the network drive.

Normally that error you mention comes up because QB wasn't installed from an admin account, but if you are trying to do something tricky on where your files reside you can get this as well. Normal fix is to uninstall and reinstall making sure you are logged in as the admin.

Now you need to look at the network rights ... or are there any? Is the QB folder set up on a server - like a real server, or peer to peer? What rights is the folder carrying, such as has permission been given for users to write to it?

This is a known issue for QB's 2005 that involves a windows registry being incorrect. You will need to call for tech support (1-888-320-7276) to get it resolved. There will be no charge for the call. Refer to KB# 386551.
