Quickbooks Premier 2006-2007 Australia Remitannce Advice - USELESS

We just made the costly mistake of buying Quickbooks Premier 2006-2007 (Australia) for the new Remittance Advice "feature".

What an absolute turkey it is!

It isn't possible to edit the template - so it looks really awful (VERY badly designed) and even more fun... wait for it!

You can't print a remittance advice - you can *only* email it.

What were they thinking???

I really hope I'm wrong and these first few hours on the product have not been enough to find what I need - but at this point, there's no ability to do what I need:

#1: Customise the Remittance Advice Template #2: Print them on Letterhead.

If you in Australia and plan to upgrade for the Remittance Functionality

- FORGET IT!!

Is it emailed as a PDF or HTML document? If so, you can presumably save it and print it without emailing.

Can you change the email address? If so, email it yourself and print the email.

Some email software (Outlook Express for example) will not let you print an email before it's sent, but WILL let you save the message (a .EML file) which you can then open and print.

So there are workarounds, though they may not be perfect.

Emailed as a PDF - but it's ugly - and even if you hit "preview" and in the preview screen try to print it - it still tries to email it!!

So yes - we have tried changing the email address to send it to us - but that stuffs email quotes.

We use Outlook in our Office and QB doesn't even open it. It uses the under-lying mail transport so you can't edit anything at all before it sends it.

It truly is an awful piece of work.

I've now spent hours trying to prove myself wrong - but I'm just getting angrier.

They'll be getting a nasty phone call from me tomorrow.

I simply can't understand why they haven't allowed for the template to be customised - and why they won't let you print it!!!

OK, I've discovered how to print the remittance advices but still can't edit the template.

File -> Print Forms -> Remittance Advice.

The problem is that the Remittance Advice "template" (that I can't edit) conflicts with our Letterhead.

If you go to the Templates List - it's not there. If you try to create a new template you get all the options like Tax Invoice, Adjustment Note, PO, SO and so on but NO option for the remittance.

It has to be an oversight doesn't it??

Where are the templates actually stored? I've searched through the directory but they're not there so I assume they're embedded in the QB Data File?

How did you go Jason, find out where they are?

Nope, no luck.

I spoke with their Tech Support people and was advised the Remittance Advice cannot be changed and that if I didn't like it I could lodge feedback via Quickbooks Premier itself... (yeah it's in there!)

No response so far.

I am beyond appalled.
