Registry and File Permissions for Non Administrators

Ladies & Gents,

After much sorrow of not being able to get any support out of Quicken and being unable to locate a fix for users without admin permissions, I took matters into my own hands and using REGMON.EXE(1) and FILEMON.EXE(2), ran QB with the admin account whilst the two monitoring applications running.

You need to grant file premissions to: c:\program files\intuit

You need to grant registry permissions to: HKLM\Software\Intuit HKCR\.QBA HKCR\.QBA\(Default) HKCR\.QBB HKCR\.QBB\(Default) HKCR\.QBG HKCR\.QBG\(Default) HKCR\.QBO HKCR\.QBO\(Default) HKCR\.QBR HKCR\.QBR\(Default) HKCR\.QBW HKCR\.QBW\(Default) HKCR\.QBX HKCR\.QBX\(Default)

There may be more, My initial hack was to grant the user access to: HKCR\*

(Admin. *Shivers*)

This isn't all encompassing, it's a hack. Please insert any disclaimer here that you feel removes me from responsibility. Let common sense and cool heads prevail.

Sincerely,

Jol.
