Export to Excel then sort.
I meant, is there a way to sort the customer list so that it displays in alphabetical order within QB. I went back and noticed that I hadn't entered the name up above with last name first. I had left it blank and by default, QB sorts by first name. I created new customers for the few I had entered and then couldn't figure how to delete the ones I didn't want, but then suddenly like a gift from Heaven, it asked me if I wanted to merge the names and I chose yes. Bingo, everything sorted by last name. Some things you don't question when dealing with software, you merely give thanks when things go right unexpectedly.

I knew what you meant. If you want the list sorted by other criteria then export to Excel then sort.

Is there a setting somewhere that will change the default to sort by last name? I went through all the preferences and couldn't find anything. Or does it have to be entered in the space with last name first when entering a new name? MS-Money has the option of specifying how to display by default. The setting may be in QB somewhere but I just haven't found where it is yet.

Keep looking. It's like were's Waldo except Waldo is dead.
