I'd like to import a vendor's Excel spreadsheet to my item list. Can this be done with some reasonable effort? If so, what would a three sentence explanation of the process look like???

Search help on "import items". Export your current items list to an IIF file and see what it looks like, format the items you wish to import in the same fashion, then import the IIf file.
Search QB Help for Mapping. That may be easier than IIF.
