Hi, Bob, Port, Han, John...
Edit | Preferences | Register | "Maximize Register View" is not the same as F11 - except in Quicken. Elsewhere in Windows/Vista, F11 triggers "Full Screen" mode.
Windows has 3 ways to make a window fill the whole screen. They may look the same to us humans, but Windows knows the difference.
- Maximize - this is the most common version, usually toggled by the square near the X in the upper right corner.
- Normal window, stretched (using arrows or mouse) to fill the screen.
- Full-screen - toggled by pressing the F11 key. This works in most applications, but not all. When it works, it gets rid of the Title Bar, Address Bar, Menu Bar and Tool Bar at the top and the Taskbar at the bottom - and maybe a couple of other features I haven't noticed. As I said, it is not consistent in all apps.
In Quicken, F11 leaves the Title Bar and Menu Bar and Taskbar, while eliminating Quicken's Toolbar at the top. But it also eliminates some horizontal features, such as the Accounts list, which I prefer to keep onscreen. (Personal preference, of course; yours may vary.)
I have not explored this as much as you folks have, so I'll just drop this comment and run. But I didn't know about Quicken's use of F11 and thought maybe some of you might not know about the use of F11 in "generic" Windows/Vista. ;^}
