X Z and ZZ reports?

Oct 24, 2007 3 Replies

I'm new to Microsoft RMS and have a new customer who wants to know the difference between X, Z, and ZZ reports and what they need to do on both of their registers at the end of each day's business. They have 2 RMS registers and are currently ZZ'ing out on each of them every night. What is the best method and what are the differences in each report?

Hi Big Dave - I was going to share some of the fish I caught today, but then figured it'd be best to give you one of my rods and show you how to fish....In SO manager go to help - contents - click on the index tab - click on z reports to highlight - click display - there's your answer...

Go fish!

The X report shows you batch information without closing the batch. You can use it when you just want to make sure the batch is correct before doing a Z or any time during the day that you need or want to check your totals. Z report commits and closes the batch. This is used after you verify the batch totals using a X. Z can be used after every shift or at the end of the day. ZZ report shows you all Z reports since the last time you ran a ZZ report. The ZZ is most commonly used at the end of the day after all shifts have run their Z's, but it can be used weekly, monthly, or never depending on what your needs are. I only Z at the end of the day so I don't use the ZZ report. I do run it once it a while just to clear it out. When I do this I toggle off the printer so that I don't waste a bunch of paper. Craig
