I'm still using Quicken 2004, just for a checkbook. However, the current balance is never correct unless I run Backup. Any ideas on why that happens? Is 2004 directly upgradeable to 2010, and if so would it be worthwhile to do that?

Quicken 2010 version will convert your Quicken 2004 data to the new format.
