Backup Initiates (Un)Installation Routine

I'm running Quicken Deluxe 2005 Version R.5 on a Dell Inspiron E1405/640m with Windows XP Professional.

When I initiate a backup command, I first get a popup box "Please wait while Windows configures Quicken 2005" followed by Quicken Installation warning "Quicken Installation has detected an open Quicken application. Please close the application and try again."

Eventually I can acknowledge the warning and cancel the (un)installation process and then proceed with a successful backup. However this happens everytime now it is really aggravating.

Does anyone have any ideas what's wrong or how to solve?

See attached file with screen captures.

When you get the message, close Quicken, insert your Q2005 CD, and let the install complete.

Alternatively, you might just reinstall Quicken, making sure that you run Quicken as the same Windows user that installed it.

John,

Good suggestion and the reinstall worked for me (although my current version did not fully uninstall through Control Panel "Add/Remove Programs"... it stayed listed but could not be removed. After some frustration, I finally deleted everything in the Quicken folder and was able to install.)

Thanks,

Kevin
