Installation

Hi,

I have a bit of a problem... Owing to a system 'upgrade' which left my accounts machine dea in the water, I have to reinstall QB2005 Pro from scratch. I have a written record of my customer number, install key, and last-active licence key, and the last several months backups, but the actual installation CD is nowhere to be found. Do I have to buy the damned thing again, or can I download the files from somewhere and then activate it using my previous details?

I tried looking on the Intuit website but they are reknowned for being less than helpful unless one has an eXceed support package. All the FAQ categories appear to be empty as well.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Call their customer service number and give them your information so they can verify that you made the purchase and registration. They should be willing to send you a replacement cd although it may cost you a small fee. They do have the download available as well so getting a link to the download may be possible. You just can't access it on your own unless you're willing to pay retail for it.

43 There is a download FAQ link on the page that contains the following; " Q: Can I convert a trial download into a full product? A: Yes. You can convert most QuickBooks trials into full QuickBooks products - the trial contains instructions on how to do this. You do not need to re-download, reinstall, or transfer any data - everything you need is already on your computer after you install the trial. (QuickBooks Mac Trial and QuickBooks Customer Manager Trial do not unlock.). "

This might solve your problems, if 'unlocking' requires only the installation and/or licensing keys.

That was soooo close! Unfortunately, it's a US/Canada only thing. I'll just have to call the Customer Support guys tomorrow - unless anyone knows of a downloadable UK trial...

De nada. I just spoke to them and they are sending me the 'update disk' which goes out to everyone around this time of year with new tax tables and so on. He says it contains 2003, 2004, and 2005, all versions, and the install code which I have will unlock the appropriate version. Overnight delivery, and free of charge too, so kudos to the support guy!
