2011- Unable to Save Reminder Lead Time

I edit and am unable to save the changes on some reminders. Sometimes this works. Sometimes it doesn't. I'm not trying to edit a reminder that is within the reminder time period

Manage Reminders, All Bills & Deposits - I want to change the "Show in List" lead time.

Edit, This and All Future Instances, When, Remind me **** days in advance. Change.

I change it and click OK. Just before the window closes, I can see the number of days revert to back what it was before I changed it.

For those waiting for an answer to this post: I believe the answer is that when you schedule an online billpay transaction, you can not schedule it later than the "lead time" specified by the billpayer.

John,

Your answer is spot on. Thanks.

After I wrote the OP I realized that these were all online bill pays. The 6 day lead time is set by my bank. This fixed lead time works well for those who want to know the last day they can pay a bill and still have it arrive on time.

Unfortunately, I'm not one of those folks. I prefer to pay my bills on the day they arrive, so I don't forget to pay them. For 15 years or so (in other financial programs) I've set up my bill alerts to pop up on the day I'm due to get the notice in the mail. That way I don't have to rely on my terrible memory to realize, when I should be getting a bill. Also, I'm in a rural area where mail theft is rather common.

So, the 6 day lead time is a huge annoyance. I see the alerts and can't do anything about them until I actually get the bill 6 days or so later.

Now that I know what the problem is, I'm setting up my reminders two different ways. To alert on the actual date the bill should arrive for most bills. I set the reminder date out 6 days from that on online pays.
