A way to mass-recategorize transactions

Dec 12, 2010 4 Replies

Using QHB2008. I'm looking for a way to recategorize many transactions in a single pass.

What I have been doing is generating a transaction report but it only lets me do one transaction at a time. It blanks out the recat and retag items if more than one transaction is highlighted.

Thanks for any info.

As long as you don't select a transaction that is part of a Split, you can recategorize/retag multiple transactions.

Find & Replace is another option.

Thanks.

Just about all the transactions were parts of splits. But Find & Replace worked fine. Too bad for some reason the F&R window doesn't resize though.

F&R made it a do-able project however. Many thanks again.

I think Intuit leaves it that way, just to annoy Quicken users.

You should be able to achieve the same "mass-recategorize" results using the Quicken "Search" feature*; and the Seach Results window is resizeable.

[* If you don't already see the "Search" box in your Quicken Toolbar; right-click in the Toolbar, select Customize Toolbar", and put a check mark in "Find All".]
