Add a Repeating Online Payment

I would like to pay my mortgage with a repeating online payment in Quicken 2010.

I have "Bill and Income Reminders / Repeating Online" displayed. It lists the repeating online payment information for two payees.

If I click "Create New", I can choose between "Scheduled Bill or Deposit" or "Paycheck".

No "Repeating Online Payment"!

If I enter the info for this new payee, it appears under "Scheduled", not "Repeating Online". I can make a manual payment or write a check with Quicken. I don't wish either. I want to send the payment request to my bank and have them issue the check.

How do I do this?

Thanks.

I do the reverse, in a manner of speaking, in a 2 step procedure, although not for a mortgage. Firstly, I have authorized the "payee" (actually several payees) to "pull" the amount(s) due from my checking account on the due date. In this way, it is the job of the payee to make sure they get the money on time. No possibility for a late charge that I would have to dispute in some way. (I have had to do that, and I loathe it). Secondly, I have entered the repeating payments into Quicken, to be entered automatically in the register of the account(s), 32 to 90 days in advance, so I can see what it does to my balances, and I get a chance to edit amounts as the statements come in.

Oh, yeah, my Chase Heloc now gets a fixed amount of principal paid off in the above way each month, while the interest gets paid as it comes due, but that's my way , and subject to change.

"Create New", select "Scheduled Bill". Near the bottom of the screen there should be an option to select the payment method. Select "online bill pay". You should then see an option to check a block that sets the transaction to a repeating payment. I use "should" because I use 2011 which is slightly different from 2010.

There is.

Only manual payment or write a check. No online bill pay.

There has to be a way because I have two other accounts set for repeating online payment.

Can't be that different.

I can't do this either, because the account I would use did not yet have online payment activated in its account details.

Once I activated this, the option "online bill pay" does exist ... Now I hope my Quicken transactions do not get added to the automagic repeating transactions I have already set up at the Chase website ...

Make sure that the account ("Pay From Account") you are using to pay the mortgage is the same one you are using to make your other repeating online payments. For example, if you selected a money market account rather than your checking account, the money market account probably does not allow you to "online bill pay"

It is.

My account already has online payment activated.

In this case, it doesn't mean that because that account was previously enabled for Online Payments. As I said, I have two other online payments in that account that do work.

Cannot find Quicken Account or the Online Services tab.

It's not, but thanks anyway.

I entered the payee as an online payee first. Then I wrote a check dated

7/1/2011 as the first payment. Next, right click on the payee name in the register and select "schedule bill or deposit". Then I was able to add them as a Repeating Online transaction.

When I look at the list of repeating online payees, this latest one has "Rept-Send" as the payment method while the others have just "Repeat". Is that because of the pending transaction on 7/1?

Thanks.

Unfortunately, it *is* very different.

Q2011 has made the bill payment scheduling process quite confusing. What was an intuitive, simple process in Q2010 has become a puzzle in Q2011.

I see no basic difference in the process of scheduling a "repeating online payment" in Q2010 and Q2011.

Perhaps you can enlighten me as to the difference, and what about the difference is confusing.

Really? I have Q10 and am not finding it very intuitive.

Intuitiveness is in the eyes of the beholder ... and, I believe, overrated.

But the Quicken process for setting up a repeating online payment is logical and simple.

Before you can tell Quicken you want a "repeating" online payment, you must tell Quicken you want an "online payment".

And before you can tell Quicken you want an "online payment", you must tell Quicken to make the payment from a Quicken account that is activated for online billpay.

That logic has been in effect since Q2005.

And that the payee is entered in the online payees list.

I didn't say there was a difference in scheduling a "repeating online payment".

Since you have shown that you are incapable of reading what I write, why should I respond to your troll?

You didn't say anything worth posting. You didn't offer any help to the op, and you didn't identify any specific problem.

I read what you wrote ... in the context of this discussion. If you're not talking about repeating online payments, why are you posting in this thread?

If you have some other problem with Quicken, start your own discussion ... and be specific about the problem you're having.

I'm just here to try to help. You clearly have some sort of personal problem.
