Another One Step Update Error - TD Ameritrade (Schwab)

FWIW, my single Schwab IRA acct has been fine in OSUs the past few days, including this morning (7:15 AM, EDT)

Quicken release?

Too late. I already did that--before reading my newsgroup messages.

Everything seems fine now, although I haven't done an OSU yet.

Today's a very busy day for me, but I'll try the OSU later.

But I'll do that anyway, in a little while

It occurred to me that that might be the problem.

Yes, I'll do that. I think I'll wait with Schwab until next week., and hope that if they are having a problem it will be fixed by then.

I'm running 52.19

Understood. You've already been very helpful, and I thank you again.

I've never been there before , but perhaps I will. If you see anything there, please let me know.

It went fine, but I haven't converted to Schwab yet.

Validate fixed a couple of what seemed like minor errors. Supervalidate didn't find anything.

Validates won't find every problem, nor fix everyone they do find. And occasionally a Validate can make things worse.

I did an OSU this morning (09-07-23) @ 08:15 CDT using both R50.16 and R51.12.

The OSU's finished normally, there were no errors; and all the transactions that should have downloaded, did download. Schwab had no transactions to download, but it did not hang.

So it would seem that whatever the problem was, it is (at least temporarily) "fixed".

Success! All four of the TD Ameritrade accounts have now been converted to Schwab.

Only one problem remains. Quicken doesn't show their registers. Instead what I now see is the screen divided into four pieces, as follows:

Total Value Portfolio by Security

Top Movers Value over Time.

How can I change them back to the registry view they used to have?

Ignore my question below. I found the solution: Edit | General | Tracking method/Complete

It's 52.19 on QWIN, but I do see that Ken Blake has got his issue resolved since yesterday morning. All's well that end's well.

Alas, I spoke too soon. All four of the TD Ameritrade accounts were converted to Schwab, and everything looks OK. But...

...OSU doesn't work.

Three of the four accounts were lumped together with a single Login-ID in OSU, but the fourth, my wife's IRA was separate, with a different Login-ID from the other three.

OSU worked for my wife's IRA, but the other three didn't. I deactivated all three, and then tried re-activating them one at a time. OSU failed on all three with error CC-506 - "Quicken is unable to update your account. This may be because the account was closed or its nickname was changed."

It fails even if two of the three is deactivated.

Other than the three accounts being lumped together with a single login-ID, I don't see anything different between those accounts and my wife's IRA. Could that lumping together be a factor in their OSU failure? Should I try changing the user-ID on two of the three, so they are all different?

No, it's not resolved. See the other message I just sent in this thread.

Not looking forward to this. I occasionally use the ThinkOrSwim app which I've heard puts me at the back of the list for conversion.

That sounds normal to me. Was it not that way at TD Ameritrade?

The FAQ for CC-506:

formatting link
I suggest you read and consider that FAQ carefully.

[You also might check your previous Schwab "test" download to a NEW Quicken file and note the characteristics of each newly activated Schwab account in Quicken ... including "nicknames". Or, if that test file is no longer available, create a new one and start the test over. Have you given your Schwab accounts nicknames at the Schwab web site?]

Then deactivate ALL "your" old TD Ameritrade accounts AND ALL "your" currently activated Schwab accounts. [Have you ever had any Schwab accounts before the TD Ameritrade transfer? If so, make sure they are also deactivated.]

While the Schwab accounts are deactivated, I suggest going to the Edit Account Details dialog for each account and clearing the financial institution name, and the account number (and user-id, if present).

Then use the "Add Account" process (NOT the re-activate process) to reactivate all "your" Schwab accounts at one time (you should be required, by Schwab, to "authorize" all your Schwab accounts before they will be downloaded). Make certain that each Schwab account "discovered" by Quicken is "Link[ed]" to the correct existing Quicken account.

I seriously doubt it.

Should I try changing the user-ID on two of the three,

I would not.

[I download 4 Schwab investment accounts and 2 Schwab bank accounts in each OSU (using my user-id/password) - and 1 investment account for my girlfriend (who has a different Schwab user-id/password than I).]

I meant to add: if so, make sure those nicknames are not greater than 40 characters long.

I was wondering the same thing, as I've received no emails or other notifications about conversion.

Not only do I use ThinkOrSwim regularly, but I also converted my accounts to "Advanced Features" several years ago, which broke some things on the TD Ameritrade website, but added features to ThinkOrSwim.

Thanks once more. No time now, but I'll follow your suggestions tomorrow.

Done. All seems well now, OSU works on all four accounts. Hallelujah!

The problem was apparently with a few old Schwab accounts that were hidden--so old that I had for forgotten that they had existed.

Again, enormous thanks. I've long thought that I knew Quicken pretty well, but you clearly know much more about it than I do; I don't think I could have gotten this fixed without your help.
