Backing up Quicken data files

I am using Quicken 2005. What do you guys suggest as the best backup medium for my quicken file? It appears that the Mac OSX version cannot backup too multiple floppies like the PC version can, and burning a CD takes way too long. So I am using a Zip disk for quicken backups. The problem with this is that this disk is not a universal standard, but its why I know have a USB drive.

What do you use? I used to own Quicken 98 for Windows and at that time I easily was able to backup to 2 floppies. I had to restore my accounts once due to failure and the floppies saved my day. They work well, as long as you take care of them I have discovered. But I have not had any problems since moving back to Quicken for Mac in 2000, and know I am at Quicken 2005.

Is use a CD-RW and the backups only take a few seconds. My data file is fairly large too. I have been using the same CD-RW's for about 4 years and I backup on a weekly basis. CD RW's have a limited life so I alternate them periodically in case one of them craps out.

God invented USB (thumb) drives expressly for easy backup of Quicken data files.

Mike B is right about USB drives, but since I have a built in CF (Compact Flash) reader, I use a old 64 meg CF card that i used in my old digital camera. It equals about 40 floppies, that is more than enough for me, and I can leave it plugged in all the time.

Why is the ZIP disk a problem? If it works, then you should OK. Burning a CD, is, IMHO, probably the safest way to store the data. You can burn a CD in a minute or two and keep multiple copies.

My backup strategy is:

1) I use the Q backup function to store the backup files in a directory (new folder for each backup) every time before I exit the program

2) I use "Karen's Replicator"

to schedule a copy of the files to another logical drive every morning

3) I use BackupMyPC to schedule a drive image copy on to an external hard drive that is only powered on the day of the scheduled backup.

I used to use CD-RWs to back up files to. I ran into problems several times and the disk became unusable. Now I use either CD-R or my USB flash drive. My current laptop also has a DVD burner so I will probably start burning a back up copy of my entire XP user ID to a DVD every week for safe keeping.
