Backingup the Quicken Data to DVD-RW

I use Quicken 2005 Deluxe. When I try to backup the Quicken file into DVD-RW, it gives a message that files are placed in the Windows XP's temporary directory and I have to burn them into the CD or DVD. I read the Quicken help menu, which states the after backing up the files, the program creates an icon on the desktop, which I can click to bring up the file for burning. However, it does not create any icon on my desktop. Where is this file located, so I can identify it by using Windows Explorer? I do have the Sonic CD recording software but I would like to save the files directly to DVD-RW drive. Any suggestions? Thanks. EA

I don't find the text you refer to in my Q2005 Help file; please post how you got there.

But, I do not understand quite what you believe is usefully missing; Quicken has told you that your back fileset is going to be placed in the Windows CD folder for later writing to CD. Since that will always be true, it should be a normal part of your backup procedure (assuming you intend to put every backup onto a CD) that you go to the CD folder and write its contents to your CD.

Just look in the targeted drive in explorer and you will find them as temp files. My DVD writer is the E: drive so I go into explorer and right click on the E: drive and there they are. Also, a little ballon comes up in the Window's notification area(bottom right hand of the screen)saying you have file ready to write. You can click on the ballon and it will bring the target drive with a listing of the files. Select the files and click on "Write these files to CD"

Yes. It seems to be I can directly copy files to CD but for DVD, somehow I have to use Sonic program. I removed the check on the dialogue which says use Windows CD burning wizard. That allows me to copy files directly to a blank CD but it does not recognize the drive if I use DVD-RW. I have to go open the Sonic program and then copy files to DVD. I guess, it is some setting in the Sonic program which is causing this different behavior. Also I don't get the balloon icon on the desktop which supposedly reminds you to burn your backup files to the CD. One correction I wanted to make in my very first posting that I have Quicken Deluxe 2006 and not 2005. Thanks.
